I am slowly reading through The Baron of Magister Valley (Steven K. Brust's take on The Count of Monte Cristo), and this short written exchange pumped me up.
It was the shortest note Eremit had yet received, and it said simply: Do you wish to learn?
His reply was equally laconic: Yes.
