I trained as a counselor a while ago but I think allowing for ambivalence in life is incredibly important. A friend just retired from a stressful job is relieved but also sad. Entirely makes sense. Death in the family? Devastated, but also relieved or possibly angry. A birth or marriage? Joy & loss
