I'm struck by how the Saga of the Earls of Orkney introduces Páll Hákonarson (ch. 53): 'he had little to say and was popular'. A man after my own heart. Sadly, Sveinn Ásleifarson kidnaps him and so makes the much more garrulous Rǫgnvaldr Kali Kolsson sole Earl of Orkney (at least briefly).
