Akane-Banashi did something with its antagonist that I wish more stories would do: that the intentions behind their actions aren't born of malice or spite or even anything as petty as greed, but dedication to an ideology to the point it makes them unreasonable and far too obstinate to change course.

I know it's not gonna happen, but I desperately want one of the new FFXIV jobs to just be Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon from Fate. I want to launch magical weapons in obstinate rejection of aerodynamics and practical limitations. I've been good, I deserve an endless horde of improvised projectiles.
