Some thoughts on Alain Guiraudie's MISERICORDIA, which is currently out in (a handful of) UK cinemas, and which I've been thinking about a lot since I saw it yesterday. I think it is probably a masterpiece, and Guiraudie one of the great filmmakers - but it is a perversely slight & obstinate film.

I don't recognize half this country & what they value: either hatred, xenophobia, racism, and misogyny OR willful, oblivious ignorance
There is no reasoning w such obstinate, poisoned, deliberate cruelty.
